This is one of my favorite movies besides Breakfast at Tiffany's obviously. Marilyn Monroe plays the cutest ditzy chick ever. How To Marry A Millionaire follows three gorgeous gold diggers around New York City trying to literally marry a millionaire. Shactze Page (Lauren Bacall), Loco Dempsey (Betty Grable), and ditzy Pola Debevoise (Marilyn Monroe) rent a luxurious penthouse from a millionaire trying to avoid the IRS, who is hiding out in Europe. They use this penthouse to hopefully attract eligible wealthy men.
I don't want to give too much away because I think this is like the mother of all romantic comedies, its a must see. It has some of the best comedic moments ever. Plus, the gold diggers are Bergdorf Goodman showroom models, so they have the most fabulous 1950's wardrobe. And they have a five minute fashion show showcasing the best 1950's fashion.
Snippet from Movie:
Pola Debevoise: You know who I’d like to marry?
Loco Dempsey: Who?
Pola Debevoise: Rockefeller.
Loco Dempsey: Which one?
Pola Debevoise: I don’t care.
Loco Dempsey: I wouldn’t mind marrying a Vanderbilt.
Pola Debevoise: Or Mr. Cadillac.
Schatze Page: No such person. I checked.
Loco Dempsey: Is there a Mr. Texaco?
Loco Dempsey: Who?
Pola Debevoise: Rockefeller.
Loco Dempsey: Which one?
Pola Debevoise: I don’t care.
Loco Dempsey: I wouldn’t mind marrying a Vanderbilt.
Pola Debevoise: Or Mr. Cadillac.
Schatze Page: No such person. I checked.
Loco Dempsey: Is there a Mr. Texaco?
