Splurge or Save: Embroidered Leather Jackets

Mar 20, 2017

Embroidery its everywhere! Literally. On denim, leather, velvet, shoes, you name it. Last spring it was all about the patches and this year its all about embroidery. Ever since  Gucci's Spring 2016 runway show it seems all the retailers have been trying to remake the beautiful embroidered leather jacket seen everywhere.

I'm actually loving the embroidery trend, it just gives everything such a fresh update for Spring. You can easily buy a pair of jeans or a leather jacket with some cute embroidered flowers on them your wardrobe is updated for Spring just like that. You don't have to buy something super trendy you're only going where for one season. It is an update on classic items already in your wardrobe. If you don't want to spend money but like the trend, you can definitely buy embroidered patches that give you a similar effect and put on a clothing item you already own.

Even shoes are getting embroidered as well. Thanks to Gucci too the black leather mules with embroidered roses are also being remade by retailers like  Forever 21. That's what I love about  Forever 21 that they're quick to remake something for the masses at affordable prices. Because lets be honest not every trend is worth spending hundreds of dollars on.

With that being said I love that the  Forever 21 leather embroidery jacket is less but in this case I am in love with the  BLANKNYC one and I'm debating getting it. The embroidery just looks more subdued and organic and it goes well with the worn leather look I love.

Oscar Worthy Gowns

Feb 28, 2017

Let's be honest we mainly watch the Oscars for the drool worthy gowns and blinding jewels, at least I do. Also, to see Viola Davis give an acceptance speech because she gives the best ones. I thought there were many beautiful dresses on red carpet on Sunday but these were my favorite of all. Plus Jimmy Kimmel's getting at Trump and Matt Damon had me laughing the whole night. And lets not forget the gorgeous Ryan Gosling sitting in the front row that was definitely not a bad sight.

From left to right:  Viola Davis in custom Armani // Jessica Biel in Kaufman Franco // Janelle Monae in Elie Saab // Emma Stone in Givenchy Haute Couture // Taraji P. Henson in Alberta Ferretti

P.S.
It feels good to be back at blogging after taking a year off. As you can see from my instagram feed it was for a very cute little reason my baby Liam. Can't wait to share more fashion stuff with you guys as well as other lifestyle topics like motherhood.

P.S. to the P.S.
Hidden Figures was a great movie go watch it :  )

Lunch Break Craving: All Things Marble

May 26, 2015

I'm just a tiny bit obsessed with all things marble lately. The print is just screams clean serenity to me and I love it anywhere from fashion to home decor. H&M currently has a whole home collection with this print that I just need. I kind of want to buy their bowls and plates to just for my dogs as water bowls and doggie plates. And then I want to use the marble cup a pen holder for my desk along with the frame. Basically I just want it all. Below are some links where you guys can get these items if you are into the marble print too:

Lunch Break Craving: The Fracture Dress

Feb 17, 2015

I don't know what it is about this dress but it just caught my eye. There is something
so weird and unique about it I just love it. The colors seem off but for some reason
they work together. And I love any asymmetrical plus add the fit-and-flare and I'm
good to go. Wish I could have this little number for lunch with my soup on the side
on this messy snowy day in New York today.

New TV Show Line Up !

Jan 8, 2015

Since the passing of the hilarious no-filter comedian Joan Rivers back in September fans of the
Fashion Police have been wondering who can possibly replace Joan Rivers commentary. The new
season of Fashion Police begins on January 12 (my birthday) the day after the Golden Globes with
fashion experts Kathy Griffin and Brad Goreski. I will say I'm happy about this because if anyone
can compete with the late Joan Rivers commentary its Kathy Griffin. Plus Brad is too cute and too
funny as well. Can't wait to watch these four !

Younger is a new show on TV Land coming this March I am very excited about. It stars Hilary Duff
as Kelsey (Lizzie Mcguire, I LOVED that show), Sutton Foster as Liza and Debi Mazar as Maggie.
The show is about Liza a 40-year-old suddenly single mother who tries to get back into the working
wold but finds it impossible to start at the bottom at her age. While out for a drink a 20-year-old guy mistakes her for being younger and this inspires her to pose as a 26-year-old to get the job she wants with a makeover from her bestfriend Maggie. With the makeover and new found young confidence she lands a job with co-worker Kelsey to the career of her dreams.

What excites me more about this show is that directed and produced by Darren Star who directed
Sex and the City and LOVED that show. Also, Patricia Fields who worked with Darren Star on
Sex and the City as the costume designer will be the costume consultant on this show.

Here's the trailer:

Hindsight already started yesterday and I missed it because I'm kind of binge watching Sons of Anarchy because I may or may not be addicted to Jax. Anyways, this show is also about getting
a second chance at life. The show begins with Becca (Laura Ramsey) on the eve of her second
wedding where she still has doubts about it. She can't help but keep thinking about changing
things in her life and making different decisions. So she keeps thinking about her former
best friend Lolly (Sarah Goldberg) who she had a falling out with and would like to talk to.
All of a sudden she finds herself back in 1995 in New York City the morning of her first
wedding and she begins reliving her life again in the 90's while re-adapting. I don't know
about you but I want to see some needs chic grunge fashion. Dr Martens anyone?

Watch these and take a little Netflix break : )

Luxe for Less: Mix Match Lines

Jul 10, 2014

The fact that the ultra fabulous Olivia Palermo wears ASOS (tunafish wallet) paired with
Celine (caviar wallet) makes me love her fashion style even more. If anyone can pull off
mixed prints like these its definitely her.

Check out her 30 Looks for 30 Days segment one her site: Olivia Palermo

Wedding Wednesday: Unexpected Style

Jul 9, 2014

She did it, she finally tied the knot to her long time gorgeous boyfriend Johannes Huebl. After reading Olivia Palermo's article and drooling over her editorial in Brides June/July 2014 magazine I was expecting more than a tulle skirt and sweater. But damn does she make that tulle skirt and sweater
look amazing. And it doesn't hurt that it's designed by the talented Carolina Herrera either.

Absolutely ADORED that her something blue were iconic Manolo Blahnik crystal buckle shoes
Carrie Bradshaw wore in her civil ceremony with Mr. Big in Sex and the City the movie.
How much more an official New York City girl can you be?

This was my favorite dress from the Brides editorial by Elie Saab which I thought she was going to
end up wearing because it was unique yet still classic. She did end up wearing her signature
messy pony tail for a more relaxed look.

Here's another look from the Brides shoot that wasn't traditional for a bride but so
perfect for a simple and chic bride.

Fashion Scoop: Alexander Wang x H&M

Apr 14, 2014

I mean can we just digest this information for a second please !
I thought I was excited about Spring time in New York but its nothing compared to how
excited I am for November 6, 2014.  I can't wait to see images of this collection. I hope
they create some real leather bags for this collection. And I hope they make enough of
this collection and not sell out in like 5 minutes, which probably will happen because
hello it's Alexander Wang !

And the Oscar goes to . . .

Mar 3, 2014

Loved watching the Oscar's last night because of the hilarious Ellen Degeneres and of course
the fashion. I think everyone was dressed amazing last night there was not one look I did
not like but these are my favorite.

Kate Hudson needs to tell us her secret like what type of water is she drinking because she's
aging beautifully. Olivia Wilde looked tots-adorbs with her cute belly and even cuter fiance.
Lupita Nyong is a force to be reckoned with because she is both talented and her fashion
sense is impeccable. Mrs. Timberlake a.k.a Jessica Biel brought sexy back in that stunning
Chanel number. I bet Justin Timberlake was drooling over his wife somewhere on tour.
Is any body watching The Fashion Police with the ruthless Joan Rivers tonight?
because I am : )

Who were your favorites of the night?

NYFW: Anna Sui Fall 2014 Show

Feb 27, 2014

Better late than never. New York Fashion Week was a couple of weeks ago but I've been so
busy with work and a little thing called "life" that blogging has taken the back burner. But slowly
and surely I will start to blog more once I settle into these new changes life has brought me.
So, here is an outfit I wore to watch the Anna Sui show (my first real fashion show I was able
to attend as a non intern but as a "fashionista").

Always Time for a Date Night

Feb 6, 2014

With Valentine's day quickly approaching I thought I'd post a "Date Night" outfit.
One of my favorite sites is ModCloth you can finds a complete outfit at a reasonable
price here. Plus, their vintage inspired dresses are ADORABLE! Date nights I feel
give relationships a boost of confidence. If you're feeling down about yourself there
is nothing better than quality time with the person that can always life your spirits.

Fashion Scoop: Peter Pilotto for Target

Feb 3, 2014

Target does it again !
I got my 3.1 Phillip Lim bag and now I need great Peter Pilotto printed piece. Which I will get
my hands on come February 9, 2014. Just a little tip to you online shoppers like myself. For the
last designer collaboration with Target I went online at 12am thinking everything would be on sale
but in reality nothing goes on sale until like 3am (12am pacific time) from my experience. So for
those of you out there itching to get a piece from this collection set your alarms for 2am - 3am to
be safe. I'd much rather wake up and shop in the comfort of my own bed for an hour than go to
a store hoping they have at least on piece of the collection in my size.

Can't wait to get a sweatshirt, and a skirt and maybe a bathing suit and some sneakers too !

It's Drool-Worthy Gown Season !

Jan 20, 2014

As much as I love watching movies and listening to music I think I love watching stars walk the
red carpet more than watching them receive awards. Looking at celebrities strut down the red carpet
is probably as close as most of us will get to watching high fashion gowns in "real life". So yeah
these are my favorites from last Saturday's SAG Awards. I usually post about the Golden Globes
but I wasn't crazy about any of those gowns and you know what they say "If you have nothing
nice to say then don't say anything at all".

p.s.
How amazing does Isla Fisher look in that Oscar de la Renta gown?

NYFW Spring 2014 Reviews: Part Three

Oct 1, 2013

At Michael Kors he was channeling the 1940's working girl but with a hint of skin.
Rachel Zoe never disappoints us and always creates the best city chic outfits.
Philosophy reminds me of everything I would want to wear on a cozy lazy sunday.
Loved loved loved the dark lips with the feminine silhouettes.
The whole collection was sexy and sultry without being too promiscuous.

A Little Inspiration . . .

Sep 30, 2013

Mr. Cunningham could not have said it any better. Fashion to me is not just some way for people to see how
much money I have and what brands I wear, but to see my personality. The reason we love fashion so much
is because it gives us an escape in a way. It's something we can always control and alter. One day we want
to be grunge the next day we may want to wear pink. That's the point of fashion to express yourself. It let's
you tell the world how you feel without saying a word.

Gowns, Gowns, Gowns !

Sep 23, 2013

Just some of my favorite looks from the 2013 Emmy Awards Red Carpet. As you can see I don't have
one particular style. Sometimes I like sweet pastel pretty gowns and other times I love edgy sheer lace
gowns. Funny, now looking at these looks none are alike at all. And I know the Honor dress, Zosia
Mamet, from Girls is a little weird with black bra cup looking thing but I like it for some reason. It
mixes both my love of sweet and edginess together.

NYFW Spring 2014 Reviews - Part Two

Sep 21, 2013

According to the Sachin + Babi collection moto jackets and crop tops are still going strong into next
Spring and Summer.
Peter Som is not one to be afraid of using prints which is why I usually love his collections. Love that
he mixed the prints with clean lines.
I don't know why but Tommy Hilfiger's collection just makes me want to learn how to surf, maybe
its all the neoprene fabrics.
And Tory Burch's collection just makes me want to grab a basket and go to the nearest park and
have a picnic.
Pretty, Pretty, Pretty is all that's in my head when I see Zimmerman's collection. It's like 60's barbie
got teleported to the twenty-first century.
All about structure and the wrap skirt at Narciso Rodriguez.
Lace, floral and curves with modernized gladiator sandals at Tracy Reese.
No explanation needed for Oscar de la Renta he does ladies who lunch to perfection.
Femme fatale with an explosion of colors and florals.
The Whit collection is like the perfect vacation wardrobe if you're going anywhere warm and sunny.
