But of course I was none other than Audrey for Halloween. This is just a quick picture I took at my co-workers Halloween party last Saturday. Can't wait to see what you guys dressed up as this year !
Happy Halloween from Audrey Baby !
Dear Sandy
It wouldn't be right to keep blogging about fashion without addressing chaos Hurricane Sandy has left behind. A lot of us New Yorkers didn't take it seriously like we didn't take Irene seriously and stayed put even though a lot of areas were ordered to be evacuated. Now, a lot of people are stuck in these areas that were ordered to be evacuated and in danger. I hope this teaches us to just let our pride go and when it comes to mother nature listen because she can not be fully predicted.
I guess you can say I am one of the lucky ones who still has her power and heat and no serious danger has happened to and I am extremely grateful for this. I have spent the last few days at home family bonding and catching up on planning posts for this blog. Hopefully, the trains and buses start working soon so we can all get to work and continue our everyday lives.
The economy was bad as it was and now it is said this hurricane can cost up to $50 billion to repair. For those of you that would like to donate you can do so at the American Red Cross website. Or you can text REDCROSS to number 90999.

I've had a crush on this J. Crew Jeweled Sweater for a while now that I even blogged about it before as a Lunch Break Craving. But how cute is this Dorothy Perkins version for half the price, I even like the peter pan collar addition. I have an unhealthy obsession with sweatshirts because they are so comfy and when I find a bedazzled one I just need to have a moment like this one. Below are some other embellished sweaters for the upcoming holiday season:

Definitely a believer of this. Life is what you make of it. If you go around complaining about how tough life is, all you do is attract more similar situations. Try to find a way to spin a negative situation like being thankful that you are going through this because you've either learned from it or have become stronger person because of it. It wouldn't be so bad if life was as exciting Nitro at Six Flags, because I LOVE that ride.

It wouldn't be Friday without Fashion Film Friday ! Cruel Intentions is one of those movies I love to watch, but I forget that I HATE the ending. Every time I watch it I'm so excited about the twisted love story and then I remember the gorgeous, but oh so messed up in the head Sebastian dies. Oh, and my favorite scene is when Reese Witherspoon is coming up the escalator and that song by Colorblond by Counting Crows is play, it gets me every single time.

NYFW: Vintage Vixens
At Zac Posen everything was vintage from the extravagant gowns to the old school super models like Naomi Campbell and Angela Lindvall. All the dresses were very 40's inspired with tight waists and flared skirts. Loved the slicked back hair leaving all the emphasis on the garments.
It was all about being a femme fatale at Jason Wu. There was leather, lace, bras and straps. With hints of navy and floral prints. Again the slicked back hair and red lips gave you that 40's vibe.

Since I have a love for using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and I went to school for product development, I figured why not combine my love of blogging and developing. For those of you who aren't really sure what Apparel Product Development is, its using technology like illustrator to create, merchandise and communicate during the phase of development. For example, its the whole going back and forth with your factory in lets say Italy who is making this sweater for you. You have to be specific with them about sizing, color, fit, graphic etc. Doing this includes doing trend research, and sourcing for colors and patterns.
What a lot of people don't know is that not everyone is a designer, you have development teams with head designers who work together to create new items based on last years best sellers and trend forcasting for the season. So, basically I get to look at fashion shows, people watch, analyze magazines and what people on television are wearing to come up with items that are fashionable yet profitable too.
Right now I am working for a wholesale fashion jewelry and accessories showroom where I get to create accessories for retailers like Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Free People, and Charming Charlie by working with the sales team and buyers. This blog will basically be my trend research and portfolio all in one. Anywho, I'm currently obsessed with motif sweaters and I hope you guys enjoy this segment : )

How lovely is this shirt dress from ASOS? I got a thing for shirt dresses, I don't know maybe its the who androgynous feeling they give but I love them. The fact that this one has hints of lace is driving me insane. You can easily dress this up with black pumps or dress it down with cute black combat boots.

This past weekend I saw this on Instagram and I just had to re-post it. This is so my motto for life in general. I've been working since I was 17 to put myself through school and help my mom out and I do feel good things come to those who work really hard. I won't lie and say there weren't moments when I wanted to give up, but eventually good things do happen. In my opinion, I appreciate the things I have in life more when I work for them rather than just receive them.

The Wedge Sneaker, I'm pretty sure you've all seen them everywhere or even own a pair. The trend was inspired by Isabel Marant's high top wedge sneakers. These $700 plus sneaker made every retailer want in on the money making trend. The can be found any where from Target to Steve Madden. Even Nike was inspired by the trend and made their Liberty sneakers wedges. This popular trend looks like it will keep growing because every season the sneakers come out in new colors. If a $700 sneaker is not in your budget you can find these ranging from $30 to $250.

Marchesa can do no wrong when it comes to making impeccably beautiful gowns. This season it was more about the saris than the gowns and they looked gorgeous. The fabrics and colors looked so rich and vibrant. The draping, tulle, fringe and embellishments were all used just right to not make the garments look like costumes but instead like pieces of art.
At Altuzarra it was a mixture of equestrian and middle eastern influences. The gladiator knee-high sandals looked amazing with the well tailored coats. We see fringe again on the skirt to give the garments movements. But my favorite pieces are the ones with the draped scarves filled with embellishments and tassles.

How beautiful is this flannel parka with leather sleeves ? I'm seriously debating saving up for this All Saints Parka. Maybe I'll wait to see if it gets a mark down and hunt for a Bloomingdale's coupon and use my credit card, so I wouldn't feel so guilty. I'm seriously considering investing in this parka. What do you guys think?

As I get older I've noticed I have become much more confident in my own skin, I'm far from thinking I'm the bomb, but I'm getting there. We tend to always look for affirmations from other to feel good about ourselves, but it really doesn't matter unless you feel comfortable with yourself. Don't get me wrong compliments are great, but they're even better when you believe them. As women we go through a lot, we don't want to be vain but lets be honest we want to feel good and look good. And I've learned that doing things that made me happy not others makes me feel good and in turn there come the compliments : ) I say we all should be walk with confidence like Carrie because she's fabulous and if your daring try and be a little Samantha too.

As soon as I saw this collection I started humming Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. 3.1 Phillip Lim is one of my favorites this season with the layering and mixing of prints. I love everything the hair, the shoes, the fact that the outfits aren't so fussy and they can be mixed and matched. I think 3.1 Phillip Lim makes the most attractive tops like his peplum tops and graphic sweaters and tees.

If you want a quick easy read Remember Me by Sophia Kinsella is it. Its cute funny and to the point, one of my favorite chick-lit books. Imagine you were 25 years old one minute, with a sucky job, a loser boyfriend, not enough money to have the fabulous wardrobe you believe you deserve and all you look forward to is Friday night drinks with friends. Then the next minute you wake up 28 years old, with the most wonderful job, beautiful husband, and perfect apartment.
This is what happens to Lexi Smart. She's picked on her whole life for not being the prettiest or most ambitious person and then boom she wakes up in to the perfect life. Lexi hits her head in an accident and forgets the last three years of her life. So, she's left trying to figure out how in the world she ended up with this perfect life and if it really is all that perfect. She can't remember anything but for some reason she doesn't know why, but her husbands architect seems really familiar. I don't want to give too much away because its a really cute fun read if you want to lift your spirits.
Fashion Scoop: Zara Home Now Online !
Zara is one of my favorite stores and when I heard they had a home store I was so excited. But then I found out there are none in the US, only overseas. When I was in Italy this past summer I went into a Zara Home store and had to be dragged out. I wanted to purchase everything. Unfortunately, you are only allowed two bags on board so I settled for that cute gold piggy bank isn't it adorable.
Now, I can buy Zara Home online ! They ship to the US ! I'm a happy camper, plus they have free shipping for the month October. I hope they eventually open up a store in the states because its like Pier 1 Imports was hit by a Vogue magazine in there.

With denim overalls coming back in style and everything, I thought what movie would be more appropriate for fashion film Friday then She's All That (really it was my boyfriends idea). But anyways, I loved this movie. Actually, let me be honest I love any movie with Freddie Prinze Jr., he was so high school dreamy. In this movie he plays a jock, typical, and his friends bet him to turn the most nerdiest (that's not even a word) girl in school into the school's prom queen. And of course through the process he feels bad for the bet and falls in love with the geeky cute girl in the messy overalls. How cute are those long RCVA overalls on the top left? I remember how this was all I liked wearing in elementary and jr. high school.
NYFW: Lady-Like Esque
To continue on from yesterday's with the lady-like esque Three Floor Scallop dress, here are my favorite girly looks from NYFW. Looking at this Oscar de la Renta collection made me want to run back and intern for them again. He creates the most beautiful "ladies who lunch" dresses and outfits. This collection in particular reminded me of Marie Antoinette and how extravagant yet still tasteful her fashion sense was. At Oscar it's always about the embellishments and attention to detail.
The Christian Siriano collection made feel like I was watching a whole bunch of ballerinas prance around in really pretty poofy dresses. I'm not a big fan of pink, but I loved it in this collection because he complimented it with my favorite colors soft grey and baby blue. I love that they all have messy buns to make the looks more down to earth.
Tory Burch never fails to make you feel like a chic world traveler. All the tie dye, tropical, and paisley prints make the colors pop even more than they naturally do. This collection looks like country world chic because of the fish tail braids. Its all about her charming printed dresses and skirts.
I adore this collection by Honor. It is so feminine yet chic and fresh all in one. This collection had me at the ruffled collars literally.

It's such a gloomy day in NYC today and if I could wear anything I wanted, money being no object I would wear all these pretty pieces to bring my mood up. I've been in love with this Three Floor Scallop dress for the longest now I like the ruffles, the peplum skirt and the hidden ruffled details. I'd wear it with these simple pointed pumps to leave all the attention on the dress. The House of Harlow snake print bag adds some life to the outfit, but still maintains its delicacy with the muted tones. Aren't those Zipper Pull earrings adorable? I see these Hand Chains everywhere now, figured one would look good with this outfit because its dainty and sweet and a bracelet would look to chunky. Definitely the perfect Spring outfit to go out in the afternoon to have a nice lunch at a cute french bistro or something.

Does the T-shirt on the left look familiar to you? If you've been keeping up to date with fashion week then you have. It seems everyone and their mother is wearing this Balenciaga Egyptofunk tee and if not they're seen wearing the sweatshirt outside all the fashion shows. If you don't feel you can dish $295 on a tee that is almost sold out everywhere then head to your local Urban Outfitters and get the one on the right for $29. If you're a democratic and have a funny bone you'd love the Barack to the Future Tee at Urban. And if you perfer not to participate in politics, Forever 21 has a really cute galactic inpsired tee.

At Elizabeth & James it was all about the elongated structure and soft fabrics. You can definitely see Mary Kate and Ashley wearing these menswear inspired blazers in paparazzi pictures on the weekly glossies. The pieces are classic staples with focus on the fabrics and color. The colors are strong jewel tones mixed with your basic black and white. I am in love with the blazers, I feel like they would look great on everyone.
It was all about the modern hippie at Rebecca Taylor. As always she showcased her beautiful feminine prints. The denim-bleached fabric was seen every from top, skirts, dresses to jackets. This collection really made me want to fast-forward to Spring 2013 already.
Structure was key at Jenni Kayne as well. Shirts and shirts dresses were beautifully tailored complimenting the feminine colors of the collection. The ethnic prints could easily transition to fall. The pops of hot pink and yellow will for sure attract attention.
A Little Inspiration . . .
It's Monday again ! Another week to make great things happen. Like how I'm trying to be the opposite of a Debbie Downer ? Anyways, I came across this quote and found it fitting. See, how we sometimes sit there and just think why can't this and that happen to me? Why do other people have great things happen for them? Why not me? Why? Why? Well, let me tell you something because they don't just sit there and whine, they actually get up and accomplish what they want to accomplish. And they do it with a positive attitude too. If you make a mistake along the way, just don't get frustrated and think about what you learned from the mistake because in the future you won't make it again. I don't know about you guys, but I'm excited to see what my future holds ( career, personal life etc.). Let me rephrase that, I'm excited about how I'm going to create my future.
